Plouffe created a multi level campaign to reach a huge number of groups of Americans who would not typically vote and mobilised them through the use of social media and new technologies to create a new market of electors and a new way of communicating. The campaign started with an email database of just 10,000 people and ended with 13,000,000 subscribers and over $580 million pledged through fundraising.
